Jobs That Demand Participation From Women

Ever since women started being inducted into the work sphere, certain jobs were exclusively tailored for them such as telephone operator, receptionists etc. Nowadays, women are branching out into different roles at work but even then, there are some jobswhich still demand participation from a woman.

HR Manager

Human Resource Management or HR management is a profession where women are much in demand. An HR Manager is very important in a company as she handles recruitment, employee grievances, claims and other stuffs. A HR manager is the person who needs to be contacted if you want to a job in a particular company.

The job of an HR manager is usually handed to a woman because an HR manager needs to be presentable and polite in dealings. Women are naturally assumed to be so which is why companies want women as their HR manager. There are plentiful HR jobs available for women and you can find them on online classifieds websites.

Sales Executives
Most store owners assume that women are better at communicating and will grab more attention from both men and women if they try to sell something. Therefore, retail sectors too are employing more women to boost sales of products. These women not only have to push sales but they also have to help customers shop by directing them to the right aisle or suggesting the correct sizes for them.

However, it must also be noted that women are pushed more for selling luxury products such as clothes, perfumes, handbags etc. Men usually assist customers interested in buying electronic items.

Tele-callers

Tele-calling forms a major part of all the outsourced work to India. Most call centres and BPO units prefer to hire women as callers because potential customers respond more positively to a female voice compared to a male one. Female Tele-callers have shown to sell more than what their male counterparts do.

Teachers

School teaching has been particularly viewed to be a woman’s profession. Most parents want their daughters to become teachers because the work hours are steady and the job is very respectful. Schools, too, demand female teachers because females are more caring and can connect better with children. Schools are preferential towards women especially when it comes to children in primary school because they can handle children with both tenderness and severity.

Even though these jobs entail gender based stereotyping of women, it cannot be denied that companies are yet to overturn this policy completely. Companies and institutions are more inclined to hire women based on the gender characteristics rather than their ability to handle the jobs.
Nevertheless, times are slowly changing and women are being considered for more hard core stuffs such as admin jobs. Many companies nowadays have male HR managers and a larger proportion of male Tele-callers in every shift. Though gradual, the mind set of people is changing and sooner than later women will be considered for jobs that do not make use of their gender characteristics but of their actual skill set.
