BPO Sector Jobs In Bangalore

Bangalore is one of the most important contributors to India’s GDP. The city has experienced a lot of growth because of pioneering the IT revolution in the country. Together with Pune and Hyderabad, Bangalore forms the silicon valley of India. There is a large number of IT and tech parks in the city such as Manyata Tech Park, Electronics City etc. that are home both domestic businesses and international companies. A significant proportion of these companies are the business process and outsourcing companies, which are commonly known as call centres.

These BPO companies handle the tele-calling services, emails, speech recognition and responding through the IVR. The toll free numbers that are displayed on a product’s package or advertisement actually get diverted to a BPO unit and you speak to an agent from the call centre.

BPO jobs in India are available at all times of the year and the pay is quite good. A call centre employee gets paid between Rs 25,000 and Rs 40,000 in the city, which is much better than what they are paid in cities like Noida, Gurgaon and Kolkata. Alongside the salary, incentives and perks are offered to employees for good performances and sales. Incentives may be in the form of monetary compensation or vouchers for different restaurants, shopping websites and hotels.

Working in a call centre would mean working in a particular shift such as the US, UK or Australian shift, depending on the local time of the country in question. The standard work hours are 8 working hours. Since the shift can begin and/or end at an erratic hour, the company provides you a pick up and drop off service. Some companies provide it to you free of cost while the others may deduct an amount from your salary. Food is also available at offices and you will be provided coupons to buy meals. These coupons too may be provided by the company for free or may be deducted from your salary.

BPO Jobs in India

To work in a call centre, one should have good communication skills especially in English. Call centres usually conduct walk-in interviews. You will be tested on your skills of writing and speaking in English. If you are confirmed as an employee, you will be provided an offer letter stating the terms of employment. Before you begin working, you will be put through accent training sessions, depending on what shift you have signed up for.

From being a caller in a shift, you can rise up to the position of team leader of a group of callers and even the shift manager. However, unless you have a managerial degree, you will not be able to progress much in this field. Most people keep shuttling between different jobs without actually progressing in their career.
